Zindagi Ki Mahek was a game changer for my career: Sunny Sachdeva

Sunny Sachdeva

MUMBAI: There are thousands of actors who play supporting roles to the protagonists, give the film a new lease of credibility and are as, if not more, talented than the main leads. However, they do not receive as much fame and stardom as they deserve. In our Casting Call segment, we present a list of some of the most significant Indian television, web, and Bollywood actors who we hope eventually get their due in the future.

We got in touch with budding actor Sunny Sachdeva of Zindagi Ki Mahek and Krishna Chali London fame. Sunny surprised viewers with his performance in ALTBalaji’s Gandi Baat 3. We buzzed him to know about his journey and the industry scenario. Read on to know his responses.

We asked the handsome lad about what led him to the glitz and glamour of this industry, and he said, 'Well, initially, I was into the fitness industry, and my journey started from 2012, when I won the title of Mr Delhi NCR in a beauty pageant. It was a very big moment for me. It was my first trophy ever, as I was not good at all in my academics. My family and friends were eager for my next step. I started auditioning and bagged a few TVCs, fashion shows, and print ads. That’s how my journey started.'

Sunny has been a part of several TVCs for big brands. The actor received immense recognition for his role in Zee TV’s Zindagi Ki Mahek. He said, 'Zindagi Ki Mahek was a game changer for my career. Viewers loved my character of Mandhar in the show. Even after the show ended, fans have been showering their love on me.'

Ask him if it is difficult for actors to survive in an expensive city like Mumbai, and he says, 'I feel every different city you walk into, you will find difficulties because you have to manage each and everything by yourself. Having said that, yes Mumbai, is quite an expensive city compared to others. It’s a dream city where actors come to make their dreams come true and for which they work hard, and we all know hard work always pays back. I would say all aspiring actors should plan before coming to Mumbai, as it’s not at all as easy to survive as its looks.'

We asked him if actors are paid well, and he said, 'Yes, actors get a good pay, no doubt. I have also seen that freshers are even ready to work for free for their first break on the screen, so it depends. Every production house has its own price slabs. As you will grow with your work experience, you will start getting a handsome amount.'

Sunny gave a few tips for aspiring actors: 'Hard work and patience is the key to success, but here in Mumbai, destiny plays a very important role too. Work on your skills, have belief in yourself, and always be grounded. Then there is no looking back.'

Well said, Sunny!
