MUMBAI: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)'s Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU) has issued a strong advisory to all stakeholders in the Indian Premier League (IPL) regarding a businessman from Hyderabad who is reportedly linked with bookies and suspected of targeting individuals within the league.

According to a Cricbuzz report, this individual is believed to be attempting to establish relationships with cricketers and staff under the guise of being an enthusiastic fan. He has allegedly been seen around team hotels and stadiums, extending invitations to private gatherings and offering gifts not just to players, but also to their families and even franchise owners’ relatives—sometimes reaching out via social media, including to those residing abroad.
The ACSU has urged team owners, players, support staff, commentators, and all involved in the league to report any suspicious interactions or previous engagements with the said person.
This warning comes amid ongoing concerns around corruption in cricket. The IPL has previously faced match-fixing controversies, notably in 2013 and again in 2024, when coin tosses during matches sparked widespread speculation about possible manipulation.
Following these incidents, the ACSU emphasized the increasing challenges posed by evolving technologies and reiterated the need for constant vigilance.
