MUMBAI: With IPL 2025 progressing ahead, and on Tuesday, we saw a great face off between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Gujarat Titans (GT) where the Shreyas Iyer-led team won.

However, the final over has sparked a debate on social media with fans criticizing Virar Kohli and MS Dhoni's previous decision, comparing them with Shreyas Iyer's selfless act.
In the final over, Shreyas Iyer was at 97 off 42 balls while his partner, Shashank Singh was at 44. Seeing Shashank in a great form and hitting boundaries, Iyer took a selfless decision, keeping his team's victory at priority.
Iyer could've focused on finishing his maiden IPL century but instead, he encouraged Shashank to continue attacking.
"Iyer told me, 'Shashank, don't worry about my hundred, just keep hitting" the batter revealed after Punjab's innings.

This sparked a debate and fans started drawing comparisons with Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni, pointing out at some old clips of IPL where Kohli was seen prioritising his century as he was batting on 96 in the 19th over. His partner, Marcus Stoinis, attempted a two but was sent back by Kohli, who managed only a single.
Fans also pointed out at an old clip of MS Dhoni where he was on 49 against Delhi Capitals and when a bouncer led to a misjudged single, Ambati Rayudu was run out while Dhoni remained at the crease.
