
MUMBAI: IPL 2025 kicked off on a high note. There are teams that have put out some great scores. During Tuesday's IPL match between Lucknow Super Giants and Punjab Kings in Lucknow, spinner Digvesh Singh received a 25% fine on his match fees and a demerit point for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct. The incident occurred in the third over when Singh gave a send-off to Punjab Kings batter Priyansh Arya after dismissing him.

The IPL issued a statement confirming the penalty: "Digvesh Singh, Bowler, Lucknow Super Giants has been fined 25% of his match fees and has also accumulated one demerit point for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during his team's match against Punjab Kings at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow on Tuesday."
Singh admitted to the Level 1 offense under Article 2.5 and accepted the Match Referee’s decision, which is final and binding for Level 1 breaches.
Punjab Kings secured an emphatic eight-wicket victory, successfully chasing down a target of 172 runs with 22 balls to spare. Prabsimran Singh’s blistering knock of 69 runs off 34 balls, featuring three boundaries and three sixes, set the tone for the chase. Captain Shreyas Iyer anchored the innings with an unbeaten 52 runs from 30 deliveries, sealing the win with a six.
Earlier, Lucknow Super Giants managed to post a total of 171 for 7 wickets, which ultimately fell short against Punjab’s dominant batting display.
