Indian television is not only about saas-bahu sagas and melodramatic soaps. There's plenty of entertainment for youngsters too! We take a look at the best youth shows of this year. Read on... Yeh Hai Aashiqui (Bindass; Ensemble cast) This show follows an interesting format where each episode sees a love story with a twist in the end. From impossible love sagas to passionate revenge affairs, there's a drama for everybody. Since it's episodics, you don't have to worry about missing on the plot if you're not regular with the shows. The show is produced by BBC Productions and Bodhi Tree. MTV Fanaah (MTV; Karan Kundra, Rithvik Dhanjani, Anita Hasnandani) India's very own vampire series saw the main lead dabble with werewolves, blood-sucking monsters and a moon stone that grants immortality. The unique plot gave this show an edge over other youth shows. It is from the stables of BBC Productions. MTV Kaisi Yeh Yaariyan (MTV; Niti Taylor, Parth Samthaan) Based on a popular Manga series, this show focuses on the virtues of friendships, love and families. When two girls are honoured with scholarships, they come to a prestigious college, only to be harassed by rich brats. How the two deal with these situations form the crux of the show. This show is also from the house of BBC. Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya (Zing; Ensemble cast) This Lost Boy Productions’ one hour-weekly portrays untold love stories of Indian teenagers. From passionate forbidden loves to classic tales of longing, the show has a remedy for every lovelorn teen. Halla Bol (Bindaas; Ensemble cast) Based on real life incidents where women stood their ground and emerged victorious, the show is popular among the youth for its hard-hitting plot. It is from the house of Red Dot Productions. Love By Chance (Bindaas; Ensemble cast) As the name suggests, the show takes us through a romantic journey of real life couples who found love...by...chance! It definitely seeks to reinforce our faith in all things romance. It’s a Bolt Media production. Sadda Haq (Channel V; Param Singh, Harshita Gaur) When a small town girl comes to a prestigious engineering college, she is met with stereotypes and prejudices. She overcomes them all with her determination and hard-work. It's an inspiring show for every youngster from the house of Beyond Dreams Productions. MTV Webbed (MTV; Ensemble cast) Today's youth is a product of the Internet revolution, which has two sides to it. Some positive but some devastatingly negative. Based on the ill-effects of the Internet, the show is an eye-opener. This gen is from the house of Balaji Telefilms. Gumrah (Channel V; Ensemble cast) Just like Webbed, this show takes us through such stories where unsuspecting teens have been mislead or misguided. Dil Dostii Dance (Channel V; Kunwar Amarjeet Singh, Shantanu Maheshwari and Vrushika Mehta) The award-winning show traces the journey of youngsters who are passionate and dedicated dancers who want to achieve the unimaginable. Peppered with beautifully choreographed dance pieces and subtle emotional drama, the show has a massive fan following across the country. It’s a Cinevistass’ productions. Heroes (Channel V; Ensemble cast) This show recreates real cases of sexual assault where a certain fear is instilled in the accused, while a sense of hope and motivation is given to the victims (Endemol India). Paanch (Channel V; Ensemble cast) Five friends cover up a murder as suicide, but they don't take into account the victim's determined sister who taken revenge on the group.
