Reflecting on the viral moment, Aditi shared insights into Bhansali’s hands-on approach during the filming of the song despite choreographer Kruti Mahesh helming it. She told Connect Cine, “I am thanking everybody. That walk, just that little tukda from thumri, it is all over the internet. I really didn’t expect that and Sanjay sir did say, ‘Ye chaal bahut important hai (This walk is very important).’ He has so much knowledge so he was very much involved in the making of the song.”

Aditi Rao Hydari elaborated on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s meticulousness, highlighting his focus on every nuance, including the movement of the dupatta to the rhythm of the steps. She said, “Kruti Mahesh was there choreographing but he was completely involved in every detail of the choreography and he was very particular about this walk and how it should happen, how will the dupatta fall, how will the waist move, exactly when will the ‘chan’ sound will be heard…it was quite incredible.”

Set against the backdrop of pre-Independence Lahore, Heeramandi delves into the lives of courtesans who join the freedom struggle. While the series has faced some criticism for its portrayal of courtesans, it has been widely acclaimed for its opulence and breathtaking visuals.

In a recent featurette shared by IMDb, Sanjay Leela Bhansali reflected on the monumental scale of the project and expressed doubt on making a sequel to Heeramandi. He said, “We’ve made it, I’ve enjoyed making it, and I’m thankful to God that we made it… It was a very difficult project. Nobody else will ever be able to make Heeramandi again, nor will I be able to make it again, because it happens once.”
