MUMBAI : Bringing before viewers an all-new show of love, murder and mystery, Disney+ Hotstar presents an unusual love story that blooms in the shadow of a murderer. Hotstar Specials’ Aashiqana, starring Khushi Dubey as Chikki Sharma and Zayn Ibad Khan as Yashvardhan Singh Chauhan, will see them play two bruised hearts who cross paths under unusual circumstances. Revolving around the lives of two families who are trying to cope with the deaths of close members, series director Gul Khan helms this project under the banner of Gen K Studios. Khushi Dubey essaying the role of a gritty girl-next-door who wishes to one day join the Mumbai Police force, shared how closely she resembled the character of Chikki Sharma in the Hotstar Specials show.
“I connected with my character Chikki on so many levels. She is hardworking, passionate, simple yet confident and highly perceptive to the pain of those around her. I related with her on several levels, and it almost felt like I was playing myself on screen. She is a blend of youthfulness and courage, fueling her aspirations to become a cop. She comes across as a girl next door waiting to fall in love in her youth. But that is just the surface, for as we progress into the story, we witness her grit to prove to society that she can be so much more,” Actor Khushi Dubey said.
She also added the one count on which she differed from Chikki. “The only trait of hers that differs from mine is that she is very talkative and speaks what comes to her he3art. I am, on the other hand, I am primarily reserved by nature and open myself only in the presence of close friends,” she added.
