MUMBAI: After films like Gulaabo Sitabo and Shakuntala Devi, Etka Kapoor’s Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare is also opting for a digital release.
Times are tough, and everyone is trying to make the best out of these worst times as many from the film industry are considering other options as wait on a theater release is still indefinite.
Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare starring Bhumi Pednekar and Konkona Sen Sharma in the lead character is a story of two sisters Dolly and Kazal and their lives in Delhi.
The film is yet to release in India as the production house is in talks with leading digital platforms to plan a digital release. The movie was initially released at Busan International Film Festival (South Korea) on 4 October 2019 and saw it’s second release at USA’s Miami Film Festival in March 2020 just before the world hit the pause button because of the global health crisis.
Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare has been directed by Alankrita Shrivastava and is globally titled Dolly Kitty and Those Twinkling Stars.
Alankrita’s last film Lipstick Under My Burkha was much appreciated and won many awards including Best Film at London Asian Film Festival in 2017.

As for the OTT release of the movie, word from the sources is, 'Negotiations are on at this point and they will settle for the best deal they get. Bhumi and Konkona’s film will definitely be released online but the team is currently just figuring out which digital giant they will sell it to. It all depends on the money each has to offer. Netflix and Amazon Prime are both in contention.'
Let’s wait and find out which platform gets this movie as an addition to their library.
