Recently, Tellychakkar came in touch with the actor and got to know about who inspired him, rumours and much more.
When did you decide to become an actor?
I had decided in my childhood. In India, people either want to become an actor or a cricketer. When I was doing my MBA, I had strongly decided that I’ll become an actor.
Who was your acting inspiration back then?
I never followed a particular actor. However, back then, I used to like Hrithik Roshan a lot. If someone asks me who comes after Mithun Chakraborty and Amitabh Bachchan, I’ll say Hrithik Roshan. But to be honest, when I was thinking of being an actor, I followed K.K. Menon, Manoj Bajpayee, Randeep Hooda and Irrfan Khan. These are the people who can blow your mind. Deepak Dobriyal has that impact now. Back then, these actors had that impact on me.
Tell us about your first audition and what role was it for?
I had given an audition for an advertisement, in 2012 for some chips company. The audition was really bad, don’t even ask!
What was the first pay check you got?
I had done a show in theatre for which I had got paid 500 rupees. I still have the note with me.
When you heard a rumour about yourself?
Well, that keeps happening. I laugh at my name and my age. Sometimes I see something published about my cars. I’m not someone who is interested a lot in cars. So once, I read an article in which I found nothing true, be it my age, my sister’s name, or my cars (even though I have no cars).
When was the first time you broke a rule?
I was a very naughty child. Rules were never meant for me. I kept breaking them. In fact, I break my own rules too. Although, I understand that dedication is important and discipline takes really ahead in life but yes, we should break some small rules and be satisfied with it.
Tell us about the first time you saw yourself on a big hoarding?
It was during Jamtara. It’s a vibrant feeling and it made me so emotional. Jamtara’s poster was released and Mithilesh from the same theatre group as me, clicked a picture and sent it in the group. I didn’t go there for 2 days even though I really wanted to. Later, I went to Juhu where I saw the posters and I got emotional.
When was your first fan moment?
My first fan moment was right after Jamtara. So in theatres, the crowd watches you and praises you right there but when you’re working on OTT, you don’t come to know about it that easily. After Jamtara, I met a person in an elevator and I was surprised that she even knew my name because sometimes you are Rishi from Grahan and sometimes you are Rocky from Jamtara but that was the first time someone called me by my name and said that she knows and read about me. She was an elderly lady and she praised me a lot.
The first time when you either wrote a love letter or received a love letter?
I don’t remember it so well, but yes, it has happened once or twice. I think it was when my first girlfriend had written something to me. I never wrote a letter to anyone because given the kind of handwriting I have, I knew that if I write a letter to a girl she’ll definitely leave me.
