MUMBAI:Sunil Grover is one of the biggest names in the entertainment industry. He started with TV shows, and now, he has been making a mark in movies and web series. The actor’s recent release is United Kacche which started streaming on Zee5 a few days ago.
TellyChakkar recently interacted with Sunil and spoke to him about the web series, his struggling days, and more…
What was your reaction after reading the title of the web series?
After listening to the title, I was like what is this? So, I didn’t get much idea about the series through the title as I had no idea in what context the word ‘kacche’ was also used. Then they told me that people who stay outside the country in abroad and who stay illegally are called kacche. I liked it because I felt that it was a feel-good, slice-of-life show.
When you went for the first to a foreign country, how was your experience?
I was received by Indians there and I had gone there for Indian people. I was 18, I had gone to Canada. The place I was staying had a lot of Punjabi food. People, there were sitting on a chaarpaai, oil malish was happening on head, and they were riding Atlas cycle and Baja Chetak scooters; they take it from here. So, I enjoyed watching those things and I was surprised.
In the web series, we also see you are just given half a sofa to stay. So, when you came to Mumbai, during your struggling days, did you face any such things in the city?
I could actually relate to it. In Mumbai, you don’t get houses easily, and if you get one then it is costly. So, I almost faced such a situation. When I had come, I was staying in a good apartment in Juhu, but after one year, the money got over, so I had to shift. In that house I understood things. It was on the fourth floor, and there was no lift, so I had to take the stairs always and it was a very good experience.
Sunil will next be seen in Shah Rukh Khan starrer Jawan, and everyone is looking forward to the movie.
