MUMBAI: Gulshan Devaiah is one of the most talented actors we have in the industry. He is known for his amazing performances in movies like Shaitan, Hunterrr, Hate Story, Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota, Badhaai Do and others. The actor has also been making a mark on OTT with movies and web series like Ghost Stories, Blurr, Duranga, and others.
TellyChakkar recently did a Round Table interaction with actors like Gulshan Devaiah, Aahana Kumra, Naveen Kasturia, Amol Parashar, and Amruta Subhash. During the interaction, Gulshan opened up about the character he felt was difficult to justify.
The actor revealed, "The monster from Ghost Stories was the toughest thing I ever did and I had no clue how to do it. Jo bhi karwaya woh Dibakar ne karwaya, maine pehle din hi haath utha liye the. There was full body prosthetics; they stuck a lot of things on me. I didn't imagine that it would be so tough. My respect for people who do prosthetics; it’s terribly difficult. I am also proud that I did something so difficult. People will say that it was nice, there were expressions in the eyes. But, I won't take any credit for it because Dibakar would shout, 'Look up, look left, look down', and I submitted myself to him. Also, somebody of Dibakar Banerjee's calibre gives you instructions, you take it."
Gulshan was totally unrecognizable in the film, and while talking about it, he said, "That was not the problem at all. I was just like 'why am I doing this?'. We sometimes don't know what limitations are, and then when you experiment something, you are like 'Oh sh*t, I don't think I can do this'. But, you somehow figure it out. Here I was, in the hands of a very capable director and a very capable prosthetic team who helped me, so whatever good came out of it, I would like to share the credit with them."
Well, Gulshan was amazing in Ghost Stories as monster, and now, we know that it wasn't an easy role for him.
