Panchayat actor Shashie Vermaa will be seen playing a philosopher in film 'Who Am I'

MUMBAI: Actor Shashie Vermaa, best known for his performances in Shorgul, Bala, Panchayat, Netflix's show Yeh Kaali Kaali Aankhein and others will be next seen in film 'Who Am I' playing a philosopher which is all set for world premiere at 24th UK Asian film festival screening on 12th May in London.

Helmed by 22 year old director Shireesh Khemariya and produced by Shirish Prakash, the story is set in a small town on the banks of river Narmada which also features Pagglait fame Chetan Sharma, Munna Bhai M.B.B.S fame Veteran actor Surendra Rajan and debutante actress Rishika Chandani. Writer Ashok Jamnani, author of the novel wrote film's initial draft as well.

Talking about his role Shashie Vermaa states,"It's an interesting character to play in terms of playing a role of a philosopher, it happened to be advaitwadi follower. The character has all the of life and he found a guy who is just like him and whom he considers as his son. It gives another level of perspective of life. The layers in this character, as an actor prompted me to take up this project. And again the team of youngsters handling this project and the subject of it attracted me to it."

As an experienced actor, sharing his working experience with young director and team he says,"The experience was superb, I can't describe in words. All the people in the team were in the age of 22 to 25 and they are full of energy and with their enthusiasm it felt like they had nothing to lose and full of experiments and success is bound to happen to these people. Shirish the director of this film is quite young boy who is 22 year old. The novel is about philosophy about by circumablelating narmada how we explore the essence of life. If a 22 year old has such great knowledge about these stuff then one must learn something from this guy. He had a lot of clarity with a wonderful team. Thus I thought why not experience working with these people. And at the end of the day, I learnt a lot from this."

Talking about the message the film conveys he tells,"This film is about life, exploring and life's vicious cycle and how one should be clear about life. Basically the philosophy of life. And I'm sure this film will leave its mark. Shireesh the leader of the team has created a celluloid magic that everyone should must watch."
