MUMBAI: Sanjay Leela Bhansali's first web series Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar has already generated a lot of buzz online. Since its May 1, 2024, premiere on the massive OTT platform Netflix, the series has gained popularity. The show is based on actual events and tells the story of the tawaifs who lived in Lahore's "Heera Mandi," a red-light area, during the country's independence movements from the British Raj.

Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sharmin Segal, Farida Jalal, Shekhar Suman, Fardeen Khan, Manisha Koirala, and Sonakshi Sinha are among the cast members of this series. Sanjeeda recently talked about her look test and how she fell in love with her character "Waheeda" in the web series, even though the show has been generating news.

In a recent interview with a popular entertainment portal, Sanjeeda Shaikh was asked how she channelled her inner self and related to the character of 'Waheeda' in Heeramandi. For the unversed, in the series, we can see Sanjeeda carrying a big scar on her face. Talking about the same, the actress revealed that for 'Waheeda', that scar was the foundation of her character, which continued to remind her who she was, who she has become, and who she doesn't want to be. The actress shared that initially when the scar was made on her face, it was technical, but eventually, it became a part of herself, and she started enjoying the scar.

In the same interview, Sanjeeda Shaikh shared that she was so in love with the scar on her face that she even refused to go on the sets for rehearsal without it. Sanjeeda also added that during her look test, the scar was put on the forehead, and later, the makers decided to do it on her cheek, and the bigger the scar got, the happier she became.

Heeramandi, a web series by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, will consist of eight episodes. The well-known director proceeded in an interview by saying that this was the biggest project of his career. However, if the rumors are to be believed, Sanjeeda Shaikh received an incredible Rs. 40 lakh for playing the part of "Waheeda." According to reports from an interview, the actress said that every character they portray on television is a reflection of who they are, and that she brought elements of "Sanjeeda" into her portrayal of "Waheeda."

There has been talk about Sanjeeda Shaikh's private life. In 2012, a popular star tied the knot with her lifelong partner, Aamir Ali. The couple used surrogacy to welcome their daughter Arya Ali in 2020. However, the couple filed for divorce in 2021 after announcing their split that same year. In the present, there have been rumors that the actress is dating Harshvardhan Rane.
