MUMBAI : Setting the note right with her debut itself in Dangal, Sanya Malhotra has been making strides in the industry with strong portrayals of women with biopics. With her recent, Shakuntala Devi as well, Sanya pushed the envelope for women empowerment as she brought yet another strong portrayal to the screen as she essayed the role of human computer’s daughter- Anupama Banerji.
In 2016, Sanya Malhotra left us awestruck by making her debut as Babita Kumari Phogat in Dangal, a film exploring the bond between a father and a daughter. Four years later, the actress surprised us all with another biopic- Shakuntala Devi.
Both the stories were based on the principle of empowering women, as she continues to set an example with her portrayals. Being a filmmaker’s favourite when it comes to pathbreaking projects, Sanya makes sure to essay characters that essay with the spectrum of modern women who are fearless, empowered and strong individuals. The actress received wide appreciation for her recent act and the audience as ever, are looking forward to her next.
Apart from Shakuntala Devi, Sanya also will be seen in Anurag Basu’s Ludo and Pagglait.
