MUMBAI: Due to the Coronavirus crisis and the following lockdown, the Indian film industry has suffered a major loss. As shoots of all the films came to a halt, none of the films that were all-ready could hit theatres. And as the mystery over the reopening of cinema halls still prevails, filmmakers are now turning towards OTT platforms to release their films. After Ayushmann Khurrana and Amitabh Bachchan's Gulabo Sitabo, it is Janhvi Kapoor starrer Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl set to have a digital release.
Karan Johar, the producer of the film, recently took to his Instagram account to share the news. He shared a video of Gunjan Saxena with Janhvi Kapoor's voice narrating her story. Gunjan Saxena was the first woman officer to fly a plane in a war zone for India. While sharing the news, he wrote, "#TheKargilGirl. Her inspirational journey made history. This is her story. Gunjan Saxena - #TheKargilGirl, coming soon on Netflix. #GunjanSaxenaOnNetflix." The film also stars Pankaj Tripathi and Angad Bedi in pivotal roles.
He also shared a poster of the film that sees Janhvi dressed in uniform with a helmet on. This is Janhvi Kapoor's second big film after debut film Dhadak with Ishaan Khatter. She had appeared in a short film Ghost Stories. Have a look at KJo's post below.
Last year, as Janhvi wrapped the shooting of this film, she had penned a heartfelt note sharing her experience with all. She had written, "Spent two days trying to think of a caption that’ll do justice to what this experience has meant to me but nothing sums it up. It’s a film wrap and I feel blessed to have been on this special journey, and through it to find my best friend @sharansharma – like you say it’s all about the process; and I don’t think there will ever be one as pure, honest, adventurous and memorable as this one. Can’t wait for you guys to see it."
