Health is the perfect combination of 'physical' and 'mental' health’ - Amal Sehrawat

Amal Sehrawat, the handsome and suave Sangram Singh of Star Plus’ Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai is a fitness freak to the core. His drop-dead physique in the movie Satya 2 won him a lot of praises, and the man we hear follows a strict regime when it comes to his exercise pattern and diet control.

Here is Amal sharing his fitness tips with Tellychakkar.com.

Your mantra to stay fit?

Health is the perfect combination of ‘Physical Health’ and ‘Mental Health’ and a healthy mind is in a healthy body. So eat well and clean, don’t over eat or binge on fast food, at the same time make sure you also don’t starve. Eat healthy, as many vegetables as you feel like (only after thorough washing and preferably steamed or boiled, not fried), potatoes only till lunch (boiled), use olive oil for cooking and have a minimum sugar intake to balance insulin or sugar levels, eat minimum 3 types of fruits every day, avoid fruits after 6 in the evening and avoid banana, if you want to lose weight.
For mental health, drop your ego, learn to forgive (till the extent that it does not harm you), do your work honestly and be happy.

Your diet chart looks like this...

I wake up with a glass of vegetable juice; follow it up with tea (slim milk and 1 tsp sugar). For breakfast, I have oats, slim milk honey and 6 egg whites, pomegranates. During mid- afternoon, I have an apple and chicken breast or paneer made from slim milk at home. For lunch, I have chapatis , steamed vegetable, dal. In the evening, I have chicken breast and boiled chanas. At night, I eat chicken breast and boiled vegetables. I usually avoid soya milk and tofu.

Do you agree to the usage of supplements to lose or gain weight?

Use of supplements – Never!!

On a dull day, your exercise routine will be...

I go for long walks either on the beach side or an open big ground. It helps me charge up, as I love nature and walking releases happy hormones, endorphins.

Possess 6 pack abs?                 

6 packs – Yes!!

Has there been any food that you have stopped eating in order to respect your body?

Yes, I have stopped consuming all kind of junk foods.

Your workout routine consists of...

45 minutes of weight training and 15 minutes of cardio.

How much of time do you put in daily for exercise?

I make sure I exercise for 60 minutes daily. Beyond that, catabolism starts happening or in simple man’s terminology, muscles tend to get over trained.

Amal Sehrawat is fit because... Complete it.

Because he eats healthy and thinks healthy (stays away from negative thoughts and emotions).

How much do you weigh right now?

I weigh 84 kgs on a height of 6 ft 3 in.

How do you stay motivated?        

I keep myself motivated always by keeping a goal in front of me and also by setting new goals once the old one is achieved.

Your tips to youngsters who want to maintain a good physique?

Natural physique always looks beautiful and is easily maintainable throughout. Synthetic physique made with the help of supplements or steroids looks artificial and takes a toll over the physical and mental health in long run. So choose smartly and stay fit!!
