After Rita in Marathi, Renuka Shahane to helm Hindi film titled Fame

After having debuted into direction with a Marathi film Rita, Renuka Shahane, best known for a lady who captures hearts with her sweet broad smile, will wield the megaphone once again this time for a Hindi film titled Fame to be co-produced by Shabbir Boxwalla and Ajay Shah of Gupt and Mohra fame. The film, that is said to me a father-daughter story will have Paresh Rawal play the lead. Averred Boxwala, “I have yet to finalise the actress who will play the daughter. Since, it's a difficult role I am aiming to go for an established actress." Renuka's earlier Marathi film Rita was an adaptation of the Marathi novel Rita Welingkar, written by her mother and eminent critic Shanta Gokhale. Rita was produced by Pooja Shetty Deora's Walkwater Media and starred Jackie Shroff, Suhasini Mulay, Mohan Agashe and Makarand Deshpande. Commenting on his association with Renuka, Boxwala said, “See, firstly, her (Renuka) sister-in-law Jabeen Merchant and my wife are good friends. It was Jabeen who suggested Renuka's name to me. Moreover, she has proved herself as a director with Rita. I just needed two meetings to finalise her as the director.”
