MUMBAI: The Lok Sabha elections are going on and voting for the fifth phase across six states in 49 constituencies, two Union territories is going on. Yesterday on May 20, 2024, a lot of celebrities as dutiful citizens cast their vote. They exercised their duty as responsible citizens of India. There have been stars like Varun Dhawan, Emraan Hashmi, Akshay Kumar and more who gave their precious votes.
Akshay Kumar
Post giving his vote the Khiladi of Hindi films, Akshay Kumar had told ANI, "'I want my India to be developed and strong. I voted keeping that in mind. India should vote for what they deem is right...I think voter turnout will be good". Even Farhan Akhtar was seen with sister Zoya Akhtar and the duo showed their fingers post giving their vote. It is interesting to note that back in the 1990s Akshay had applied for Canadian citizenship when reportedly 15 movies of the actor had tanked at the box office. When his career boomed in India, he applied for Indian citizenship back in 2019.
Varun Dhawan
The Baby John actor along with dad David Dhawan cast his vote. The actor kept it casual in a white vest that also had the poster of his film Baby John.
Farhan Akhtar
The Rock On actor with sister, director Zoya Akhtar were also seen giving their votes at a polling station in Mumbai.
Rajkummar Rao
The Srikant actor gave his vote and told ANI, "It is a big responsibility towards our country, we should vote. Through us, if people can get influenced then of course that's the biggest thing that we can do to make people aware of the importance of voting. So I'm very happy that the Election Commission chose me to be the national icon and I appeal to all to please come out and cast your vote... We all want our nation to grow, to shine. It's already shining. I'm sure it's going to shine even more".
Shahid Kapoor
The Kabir Singh star had taken to his social media handle to post a picture of him voting. He had written in his story, "Cast your vote, every vote matters".
