MUMBAI: After 19 years, Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan shared one of his favorite memories of Kajra Re as Bunty Aur Babli. The superstar admitted on X that his favorite memory of the song was of him, Abhishek and Aishwarya performing it onstage. Big B appears to have been alluding to the trio's 2005 IIFA Awards performance of the song. Amitabh and Abhishek's first collaborative film was Bunty Aur Babli.

“The song became so popular that it still regenerates attention and love .. and the best moments with the song, Bhaiyu, were when we performed this live on stage … ," Amitabh Bachchan posted a picture of himself, Aishwarya, and Abhishek from the movie along with a caption. Love for the song and the three was expressed by fans in the comments section.

Meanwhile, Bunty Aur Babli was headlined by Abhishek Bachchan and Rani Mukerji, who played the titular roles, while Amitabh was seen playing the role of a cop chasing the leading characters. The film was produced by Yash Raj Films and directed by Shaad Ali. Besides Kajra Re, other songs of the film also became popular.

Kajra Re and the music of the film won several awards. These included Best Music Director, Best Lyrics (Gulzar for Kajra Re), and Best Female Playback Singer (Alisha Chinai, Kajra Re) at Filmfare Awards 2006.

YRF made a comeback in 2021 with Bunty Aur Babli 2, a follow-up to the 2005 movie. Saif Ali Khan took Abhishek Bachchan's place, while Rani returned to the role. Sharvari Wagh and Siddhant Chaturvedi were also in the movie. Compared to the first Bunty Aur Babli movie, this one did not garner as much attention.

Aishwarya became part of the Bachchan family two years after Bunty Aur Babli's release. Aishwarya and Abhishek tied the knot in a small-scale ceremony in 2007. Aaradhya, the couple's daughter, was born in 2011.
