"Atmosphere Speaks to an Actor": Nawazuddin Siddiqui Realized While Shooting with Irrfan Khan for Short Film

MUMBAI: In recent interviews for his upcoming movie "Rautu ka Raaz," Nawazuddin Siddiqui delves into his latest character study of a “slow-footed” police officer from a quiet hamlet in Uttarakhand that is untouched by crime until a murder disturbs the tranquillity of the place.

Reflecting on his preference for shooting on real locations rather than sets, Nawazuddin says, “Atmosphere speaks to an actor and gives a kick that brings a natural appeal to the character. On the sets, it becomes a little mechanical... I realized it early in my career when I shot a short film with Irrfan bhai in the deserts of Jaisalmer.”

Nawazuddin has often expressed his deep respect for the late legendary actor Irrfan Khan. In several instances, he has spoken about the profound impact Irrfan had on his craft and how their time together, particularly in challenging environments, has influenced his approach to acting. Nawazuddin's admiration for Irrfan is evident, marking him as one of the actors he holds in the highest regard. Both actors are celebrated as some of the finest in their field, known for their exceptional talent and dedication to their craft.
