Ayushmann Khurrana’s workload is giving him sleepless nights. On Tuesday night he had to rush to Yashraj Studios for a patchwork shooting of a song for director Nupur Asthana’s Bewakoofiyan. The actor shot all night and then air-dashed on Wednesday morning to Hardwar for the first day of shooting for new-director Sharat Katariya’s Dum Lagaake Haisha.
Says a source close to Yashraj, “Ayushmann and Sonam were suddenly called on Tuesday night for a bit of a song sequence. Ayushmann had just landed in Mumbai from a long shooting of Vibhu Puri’s Bombay Fairytale in Gujarat. And Sonam had taken time off from work to devote two weeks to her cousin’s wedding. Both Ayushmann and Sonam had to rush to do the Bewakoofiyan shooting on Tuesday night.”
Ayushmann went straight from the night-long shoot of one Yashraj film in Mumbai to another in Hardwar.
Shrugging off the fatigue element Ayushmann said, “It can’t be helped. It’s all part of the dream that I had nurtured. Of being so busy that I have no time to sleep. Now that it’s happening I am rubbing my eyes, and not just in disbelief but also for lack of sleep. I barely touched down on Mumbai from Gujarat when I had to rush for the patchwork shooting of Bewakoofiyan. And now I am off to Hardwar for Dum Lagaake Haisha”
The flurry of hyper-activity leaves no room in Ayushmann’s life for family time. His wife Tahira and little son stay in Chandigarh and hardly get time to visit Ayushmann in Mumbai.
“What will they come here for? I am hardly in Mumbai. I live my life out of a suitcase. My wife joins me here when there is an awards function or a special event to attend to. My son thinks his father lives in the television set and comes out to visit him once in a while,” Ayushmann laughs mirthlessly.
Such is the price one pays for stardom.
