Bhajan Samrat Anup Jalota to play a police officer in Black Birthday

India's Bhajan King Anup Jalota will soon be seen donning the 'khaki' for Kawal Sharma's Black Birthday. Taking a break from singing, Anup will be dabbling into acting with this movie. Talking about why he chose to cast Anup Jalota as a police officer, director Kawal Sharma says, " Anupji has the image of a singer and I want to give my audience that element of surprise by portraying him as a police officer. And it is only when I shot with him that I realised his intensity for acting. No one has really seen him act. So Anupji will be the surprise element of my movie." Black Birthday is a crime thriller where a mystery unfolds in whodunit plot. It's the story of a heroine, police officer and heroine. Elaborating on the quirky title of the movie, Kawal says, " The movie revolves around a mystery that unfolds at the lead heroine's birthday which ends up turning her birthday into a black one. Anupji then steps in to solve the mystery." The other star cast of the movie include television actress Garima Jain, Shakti Kapoor among others. Kawal says this whodunit movie with its great twist in the tale is an ode to the films his mentor Manmohan Desai made in the glorious era of Bollywood.
