Birsada told me to add sweetness to the film: Ridhima Ghosh on Crisscross

Ridhima Ghosh will be seen as a blogger in the film Crisscross.
Ridhima Ghosh

Ridhima Ghosh is one of the popular actresses in Bengal. The stylish lady, who is known for films like Rang Milanti, Rajkahini, and Laptop, will next be seen in director Birsa Dasgupta’s Crisscross. In the upcoming film, she plays the role of a blogger. Recently, at the trailer launch of the film, TellyChakkar caught up with the actress to know about her character, how she prepared for it, and more. Read on!

On her character

When we wanted to know on what topics her character likes to write, Ridhima shared, ‘In the story, it has not been shown in detail. But what I have personally imagined is that she is a foodie so she might be a food blogger or I am sure she is a travel writer because she likes travelling. When she gorges on some good food or experiences a nice place, she likes to write about them. She is a blogger but it has not been mentioned specifically anywhere on what topics she likes to write…so, she might also be a lifestyle blogger.’

On preparation for the role

Has she followed any blogger to prepare for the role, we asked. She said, ‘Bloggers usually write but I have followed a lot of vloggers on YouTube, which is a very in thing right now. I did that much of research to get an idea how they dress or behave. The story deals with the crisis of our lives and since it’s a day’s story and everything is shown in a span of a day, it did not require (me) to enter into detail. Yes, definitely she is a blogger and behaves in a certain way. Like there is a sequence where she talks over the phone and also writes a blog; she is a loner but when she is interacting with people she is a normal girl.’

Significance of her character in the film

‘My character plays a crucial role in taking the story of Miss Sen, which is portrayed by Jayadi (Ahsan), forward. Also, I am playing Archie’s (Arjun Chakrabarty) sister so things related to family are also here in the story. I can’t reveal much but the film deals with a lot of crisis and situations,’ she informed.

Director’s advice

Ridhima got an important advice from her director. She said with a smile, ‘The character is a lot of fun because she is very clumsy, and likes to eat all the time. She is fun. She is a lot like me. Birsada told me, ‘just be yourself and add sweetness to the film’. So, hopefully I have succeeded in doing that.’

Crisscross highlights a world of crashing hopes and lives that are constantly at the verge of meltdown. Five women (Mimi Chakraborty, Nusrat Jahan, Jaya Ahsan, Sohini Sarkar, and Priyanka Sarkar) struggle and celebrate their womanhood as their lives crisscross in a day. They all have stories to tell and reasons to live on amidst all the odds.

Produced by SVF, the film is set to hit the theatres on 10 August.
