Donald Sutherland has surely made an enormous contribution in Hollywood and here’s something that the Hindi movie audience need to know - there are 2 movies starring Donald Sutherland which were remade in Hindi and while one of them was starring Abhishek Bachchan, the other one was starring Aamir Khan.

So let’s get to know more about this now. In 1981, Donald Sutherland starred in the movie Eye of the Needle which was directed by Richard Marquand. It was a Spy Thriller where a German Nazi spy in United Kingdom, during the time of World War II gets stranded on an island with a woman and his crippled husband. With time, love blossoms and soon the spy has to choose between love and duty.

This movie was remade in Hindi in 2006, with the title ‘Fanaa’ starring Aamir Khan and Kajol and directed by Kunal Kohli. Fanaa was loved by the Hindi movie audience and is remembered even now for its romance and intensity.

In 2003, Donald Sutherland along with Mark Wahlberg, Edward Norton, Jason Statham, Charlize Theron and Seth Green starred in The Italian Job, directed by F. Gary Gray. The movie was inspired by 1969 movie with the same title but with a rather original story.

This movie was later remade by directors Abbas Mustan in Hindi. The movie was titled ‘Players’ and it starred Abhishek Bachchan, Sonam Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Johnny Lever, Bipasha Basu, Vinod Khanna, Omi Vaidya, Sikandar Kher and Shweta Bhardwaj.

Surely Donald Sutherland starrer movies had a great impact and when looking at the Hindi remakes, while Aamir Khan starrer Fanaa was a superhit movie, Abhishek Bachchan starrer Players didn’t work out so well.
