MUMBAI: After a long hiatus, Farida Jalal made an appearance in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's debut web series this year, Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. The audience responded favorably to her portrayal of Qudsia Begum in the web series.
Recently, Farida Jalal thanked Bhansali for including her in the series and said she hoped to work on more of his projects in the future.

In a recent interview with the popular news portal, Sanjay Leela Bhansali will always have a particular place in Farida Jalal's heart.
"He is in love with what he makes. People are saying all kinds of things for Heeramandi, let them say, but aisi cheezein banayi hai kisi ne for television? It's the most-watched (show). Record tod dia. Mission accomplished. He has won. Hands down," the veteran actress said.
"I would love to be a part of anything he makes and I won't leave him. I am going to keep telling him 'I have to be a part of his film'," she added.
Farida Jalal, who played the role of Tajdar's grandmother, Qudsia Begum, in Heeramandi, recalled the time when she visited Bhansali's office for the role.
"I got to meet him in his studio, I remember. I sat across him on the table and I said ek tick mark hua hai meri bucket list ka aaj ke aapne mujhe bulaya. Took such a long time in calling me. Why (sic)?" the veteran actress said.
The actor from Heeramandi said that Bhansali asked about Gangubai Kathiawadi from her. She replied that she thought about Alia Bhatt in the movie and praised it "all the time".
Filmmakers such as Raj Kapoor and Kamal Amrohi were also compared with Bhansali's artistic creations by Farida Jalal.
Heeramandi features important roles for Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sharmin Segal, Richa Chadha, Taha Shah Badussha, and Sanjeeda Sheikh. Fardeen Khan and Shekhar Suman played significant roles in the series as well.
Since May 1, 2024, Heeramandi has been available for watching on Netflix. Bhansali's masterpiece is currently under production for a second season.
