MUMBAI: The deadly coronavirus has created a touch situation for the world. Our government announced lockdown for a certain period because maintaining social distancing is need of the hour.
When PM Narendra Modi announced lockdown in India in March, many Bollywood and Tellywood celebs were hit by the thought that how will the daily wage earners of the industry survive in this period without any mode of earning.
Salman Khan at that time was one of the first few ones who came out for help and he's supporting families of 25,000 daily wage workers of the industry.
The FWICE President, B.N. Tiwari and Secretary Ashok Dubey provided him the list of workers and the procedure of transferring funds began almost immediately.
Khan has been very forthcoming in the situation of crisis. "Salman personally called me twice, to follow up, after his company's CEO, Sameera Nambiar spoke to the Federation about Salman's intent to help out the workers," FWICE Secretary, Ashok Dubey told SpotboyE.com.
Salman initially received a list of 19,000 workers but was informed later that 3000 out of them have already got aid from a leading production house.
"We then took out those 3,000 of the list and then later gave him a fresh list of 9,000 workers, making it 25,000 workers. He is supporting them for two months by giving Rs 6000 (Rs 3,000 per month) per worker," added Dubey. Thus, Salman has donated Rs 15 crore in this aspect. "The payments were all done once he got the full list," Dubey added.
"It's been two years that I am the General Secretary of FWICE, and in these two years, Salman Khan has given around Rs 1.5 crore as help for the employees and workers of the federation," Dubey concluded.
