MUMBAI: Emraan Hashmi has always been great at choosing projects and while this time it seemed like a promising venture, the movie did turn out as the best attempt to be an attention gainer. Well, Emraan Hashmi has come back with Ground Zero, a tale of Kashmir, a place that has turned from heaven to hell considering the amount of terrorist attacks and deaths it has witnessed.
Talking about the plot of the movie that grips well enough, Emraan Hashmi plays the role of Narendra Nath Dhar Dubey, an officer of BSF who has to work with his team to search and eliminate terrorist groups. When things take a turn for the worse, Narendra Nath has to take up the duty to find and eliminate Ghazi Baba, the person behind all the attacks.
The movie begins with a dreamy look of Kashmir that's about to change very soon and become chaotic in a way your mind might need 2 minutes to digest. Director Tejas Deoskar has really tried his best in combining action with emotions. Although, there are times when you would not agree with certain viewpoints presented, it is still something worth watching for once.
While the plot seems simple yet dark, the execution fails to walk on that path and falls behind for miles. While Emraan Hashmi and Sai Tamhankar give a good performance, there’s something about the characterization that keeps heavy limitations.
What makes the execution a little off, is the screenplay that doesn’t let us connect to the drama in a natural way. Yes, the BGM is great but it peaks at places where the tension fails to surface.
In conclusion, Emraan Hashmi, Sai Tamhankar, Zoya Hussain, Mukesh Tiwari and others give a sincere performance but the execution fails to do justice to the promising plot.
