Hand impression of Shashi Kapoor unveiled
In its want to honuor the legendary Shashi Kapoor, UTV Stars has unveiled the veteran actor’s hand impression on a tile. The event, that was held on 9 November, saw the tile unveiled at Prithvi Theatre by Kunal Kapoor, in the presence of his father, Shashi Kapoor. The tile will later be installed at the UTV Stars’ premium property Walk Of The Stars at the Bandra Bandstand Promenade. Talking after he unveiled the tile, Kunal observed, “We are extremely humbled and touched with this gesture by UTV Stars. This hand print symbolizes his contribution to the Indian film industry and it’s an honour for me to be able to launch my father’s tile in his presence. He’s been one of the most popular stars of his time and will be remembered that way.” Commented Disney UTV, MD Media Networks, MK Anand, “Bringing Bollywood closer to its fans is a constant endeavor for UTV Stars. Shashi Kapoor has been an icon of Indian Cinema and his contribution to the industry is invaluable. His charming personality and roles have created a legacy not many can match and it gives us great pleasure to have his tile as a part of UTV Stars Walk of The Stars.” The celebrated star’s hand prints will be joining the rest of the Kapoor clan. Tiles bearing the hand prints of Prithiviraj Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, Karishma Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor already find a prominent place at the Bandra Bandstand Promenade along with brass statues of the legendary actors Raj Kapoor and Shammi Kapoor. An evergreen star who featured in blockbusters like Deewar, Kabhie Kabhie, Namak Halaal and Kaala Patthar, Shashi Kapoor has given the Indian film fraternity some great films. Born Balbir Prithviraj Kapoor, the youngest of the three Kapoor brothers, Shashi started his acting career when he was just 4 acting as a child artiste in films like Aag (1948) and Awara (1951) and went on to entertain film buffs with his inimitable style till Jinnah (1998), a biographical film of Mohammed Ali Jinnah in which he was the narrator and another Merchant Ivory production titled Side Streets (1998).
