Filmmaker Hansel Mehta's Shahid will open the first Dharamshala International Film Festival that is due to go underway on 1 November. Ashim Ahluwalia's award-winning film <em>Miss Lovely</em> will be the closing film of the festival that will feature other 26 feature films, documentaries and short films.
The four-day festival, the first being organised in Dharamshala by Ritu Sarin and Tenzin Sonam, promises to showcase the best of recent Indian and world cinema, both in fiction and documentary.

Filmmakers Hansal Mehta, Ashim Ahluwalia, Asif Kapadia, Umesh Kulkarni, Karim Al Hakim, Jennifer Fox, Mark Elliot, Dian Said and Guy Davidi will be present at the festival, it is understood.
Other films to be shown are Rajan Khosa's Gattu and Umesh Kulkarni's Deool. Organizers Ritu and Tenzin's When Hari Got Married and Sanjeev Rattan's Dogri film Dile Vich Vsiya Koi will also be screened.
Being organized under the name of White Crane Arts & Media, the festival will feature films from US, Egypt, Malaysia, Israel and UK as well.
