MUMBAI: Ishq Vishk Rebound released on 21st June and while it created a lot of hype for being a reboot of such a memorable movie ‘Ishq Vishk’, it did not manage to give people exactly what they were expecting. However, the movie still pulled in a lot of crowd but these were people that belong to the Gen Z, who do not know the magic that was created by the Shahid Kapoor, Amrita Rao and Shenaz Treasurywala starrer.

Ishq Vishk that released in 2003 was a movie that showed the innocence, cuteness and complications of college romance. It was loved by the audience and is considered as one of the most memorable movies by the 90s kids. It is also noteworthy that the movie marked Shahid Kapoor’s debut. Ishq Vishk Rebound marks the debut of Pashmina Roshan. Not to forget, we had seen Jibraan Khan as a child actor in K3G and this was his first appearance in a movie after growing up.
While the OG movie was directed by Ken Ghosh, the rebooted version, that featured Pashmina Roshan, Rohit Saraf, Naila Grrewal, and Jibraan Khan, was directed by Nipun Dharmadhikari. Ishq Vishk made an opening collection of around Rs 1 Cr.
Recently, we have been seeing the trend of movies re-releasing. The fans of Hindi movies loved re-released movies like Jab We Met, Rockstar, Mohabbatein, and Sarfarosh. Seeing the trend giving old movies some more love and getting the feel of nostalgie from it, now the fans are asking for the re-release of Ishq Vishk, the OG movie.
It will be interesting to see if the makers use this strategy and this wish comes true.
