Jigar Saraiya pays tribute to his late parents with an emotional IIFA performance in a custom Zaid Farouki creation

MUMBAI: When Jigar Saraiya stepped onto the IIFA stage for his debut performance, his presence was more than just a musical act — it was a powerful tribute woven in fabric, memory, and love. For this deeply personal moment, Jigar turned to Dubai-based designer Zaid Farouki, renowned for his avant-garde, art-inspired creations that blur the lines between fashion and emotion.

Farouki, celebrated for his intricate, couture craftsmanship, delivered a custom-made masterpiece that told Jigar's heartfelt story in exquisite detail. The pristine white ensemble, symbolic in its purity and eternal connection, was a canvas of remembrance. Flowing yet structured, the outfit exuded quiet strength — a delicate balance of vulnerability and resilience.

But it was the brooch — an ethereal piece delicately crafted from feathers — that spoke volumes. The symbolic ornament reflected Jigar's belief that his parents send him signs — soft whispers carried on feathers that always seem to find him when he needs them most.

Zaid, at the end of his video posted on his social media says, "From the moment Jigar first stepped on to a stage, there was always one absence he felt the most — his parents," shared a source close to the artist. "They left this world too soon, before he ever had the chance to perform for them, before they could witness the artist he had become. And so, for this moment, for this performance, he wanted to honour them in the most meaningful way. The choice of white was not just aesthetic — it was symbolic. A colour of purity, remembrance, and the eternal connection between a child and the ones who gave him life. But it was the brooch — delicately crafted from feathers — that carried the deepest meaning of all. Jigar believes that his parents send him signs, soft whispers from the heavens carried on the feathers that seem to find him just when he needs them most."

He adds, "As he takes the stage, he is not just performing — he is reaching for them. Through every movement, every note, every breath, he speaks to them, honours them, and feels their presence surrounding him. And perhaps, somewhere beyond what the eye can see, they are watching, listening, and embracing him once more."
