MUMBAI: Being one of Bollywood's most contentious characters, Kangana Ranaut has a reputation for being outspoken and has frequently found herself at the heart of industry disputes. Although she has clashed with a number of prominent figures in the industry due to her audacious views, she has also developed close relationships with some of her co-stars. Chirag Paswan, a former co-star who joined Kangana in politics as a Member of Parliament (MP), is one such relationship. Recently, internet users have been talking a lot about their friendship.
Kangana started a new chapter in her career in 2024 when she entered politics. She ran as a candidate for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Lok Sabha elections from the Mandi seat. Her election triumph confirmed her place in the Parliament and cemented her reputation as a formidable political figure in addition to being a talented actor. Kangana met fellow MP Chirag Paswan, with whom she had starred in the 2011 Bollywood film Miley Na Miley Hum, at the oath-taking ceremony for the newly elected MPs in June 2024.
Photographs and videos of Kangana and Chirag's reunion went viral very fast, garnering a lot of public interest. Talk turned to their friendship, with many complimenting the obvious connection between the two. However, after a few amusing exchanges between them were captured on camera, the media flurry surrounding their encounters resulted in heightened scrutiny.

Kangana responded to rumors that she was friends with Chirag Paswan in a recent interview with Aaj Tak. She underscored the gravity of her political duty by emphasizing that her main goal in Parliament is to represent her constituency. Kangana said she was annoyed that the media was focusing so much on her friendship with Chirag, saying that their banter was taken too far. She added that in order to avoid drawing unwarranted attention from the media, Chirag, who she has known for a long time and regards as a close friend, feels the need to avoid her in public.
The Tejas actress said, “Leave Parliament out of it. It is the temple of our Constitution. I represent my constituency there. Chirag ko main bohat pehle sey jaanti hun, wo mera accha dost hai, bechare ney ek do baar hansa diye mujhe lekin aap log to peeche hi pad gaye, ab wo bhi rasta badalkar chala jaata hai.”
In a previous interview with ANI, Chirag Paswan talked about their friendship and his thoughts on the widely circulated images and videos of their encounter. He acknowledged that they had been close friends for a very long time and expressed his excitement about getting back in touch with her in Parliament. Chirag did, however, mention that because of his hectic work schedule, they had lost contact during the past few years. Both Kangana and Chirag appear to retain a polite and courteous relationship despite the media attention, albeit they are a little more circumspect now that the public is so fascinated with their conversations.
