Dabangg, Dabangg 2, Ready, Bodyguard, Ek Tha Tiger, Jai Ho and now Kick. Seven films, more than 700 crore in Salman Khan's pocket. A unique distinction which no other Khan in Bollywood can boast about. With Kick doing stupendously well at the box-office and raking it tremendous moolah with every passing day, Salman has once again proved that in his case content need not be the King. Inspite of proving his Midas touch at the box-office and staking his claim to the King's crown, Salman prefers to let his rival Shah Rukh Khan keep the tag of being called the 'king of Bollywood.'
In an industry, where numbers decide your standing in the race to the top, Salman despite the dizzying success of his movies believes he is not the king yet. When we asked him if it would right to call him the undisputed king of Bollywood post the success of Kick, Salman said, "There is already a king there (implying SRK). Let him be the king. You have a problem with him being the king? I don't have a problem with him being the king."
Salman then asked us if our question was asked keeping SRK and his tag of 'King Khan' in mind. When we replied saying that we hadn't mentioned any Khan, Salman said, "I am mentioning him. Shah Rukh is the king and he should be the king. Keep him there. That's a good position."
When asked about his own positioning, Salman said, "I will come in later. I am misplaced right now."
While Salman may have refused to accept the honour of being the new King, statistics do speak a different language. Let's wait and see if Happy New Year will help SRK keep his crown intact.
