MUMBAI: Shall we begin by stating the obvious: Meryl Streep is one of the best actresses ever, if not the best? Or that it truly is a loss for the Academy Awards any year Meryl Streep does not receive a nomination? Meryl Streep was born in New Jersey, USA, on June 22, 1949, and despite her advanced age, she still hopes to wow us with her performances.
Meryl Streep began her career as a stage actor before making her big screen debut in Julia in 1977. From then on, she won our hearts with a number of incredible performances across the years and decades. Her most well-known filmography includes, among others, The Deer Hunter, Kramer vs. Kramer, Sophie's Choice, Death Becomes Her, Mama Mia!, and The Devil Wears Prada. With a record 21 nominations for Academy Awards, Streep has won three of them, including Kramer vs. Kramer (1979).
For Hindi film fans, you might know well that the Meryl Streep starrer Kramer Vs Kramer inspired the Aamir Khan-Manisha Koirala starrer Akele Hum Akeke Tum. However, before that there is another lesser known film of the actress that also loosely inspired another Hindi film.
The film we are talking about is the 1984 film Falling In Love. The film that was loosely inspired by it was the SRK-Rani Mukerji starrer Kabhi Alvida na Kehna. The film had a star-studded cast, including Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukerji, Abhishek Bachchan, Preity Zinta, Kirron Kher, and Arjun Rampal.
