MUMBAI: Although the life of an actress may appear beautiful, carefree, and effortless, this is not always the case. One such actress has acted as the lead star's sister or friend in both TV shows and films. She once had the opportunity to play the lead in a movie in South Africa. However, there was one reason why the actress declined this movie.
Following her graduation from the National School of Drama (NSD), the actress made her cinematic debut in Var Var Vari in 1987. However, it was her role in the 1989 movie Chandni that thrust her into the spotlight.
It's none other than the actress Mita Vashisht. The talented actress made her feature film debut as Chandni's friend in Sridevi's Chandni. In a recent interview, Mita revealed something unexpected about her profession that has everyone's attention at present.
The actress said that once she was offered the lead role in a South film, but when she met the director, he put forward an absurd condition. The actress said, “He put a condition in front of me that I should stay with him for two months. But I did not compromise and said, keep your role and I went away. I rejected that offer at that very moment.”
Putting her point forward, Mita said, “Initially, the actress’s English was not very good. So, she thought that the director was asking her to stay in Chennai to learn the language. But when she came to know that he was asking her to compromise, she became suspicious, and without thinking, she immediately rejected the offer.”
She never looked back after Yash Chopra co-produced and directed the smash hit movie, Chandni. In addition, Mita contributed to several well-known films, including Rahasya, Patalghar, Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge, Drohkaal, and Kuch Khatti Kuch Meethi.
She has appeared in several TV shows in addition to films, including the science fiction series Space City Sigma (1989–1991), Jethi Maa in Kaala Teeka, Pachpan Khambe Laal Deewarein, Swabhimaan, and Alaan (Kirdaar).
