No more item numbers for me, says Rakhi Sawant

Rakhi Sawant
Rakhi Sawant is turning a new leaf with every passing day. After a disastrous debut at the political box-office, the former item girl is trying to claw back into finding her lost spotlight in the film industry once again. Rakhi was spotted yesterday promoting a Marathi movie named Jayjaykar of which she is a co-producer. Though Rakhi insists that she has been associated with this movie right from the very beginning, sources in the know told us that she was roped in only 10 days back to garner publicity for the movie. Well, going by the media attendance yesterday, we should say it was really a smart move. Rakhi, on her part, waxed eloquent about the movie which has already won praise and also 12 awards at various film festivals. "Jayjaykar has a message. It is not just a word. It's an emotion and a new beginning. It has won 12 awards and as a Maharashtrian mulgi I am proud to produce this movie. It's a new beginning for me not just in Marathi but in other languages. We have films in Bengali and Hindi lined up as well," said Rakhi. Having returned to the arclights after sweating it out as a politician, Rakhi is looking to do good and family oriented movies. When we asked if she would like to reprise the role of an item girl that brought her much success, Rakhi shot down the proposition and said, "I am an actor. I don't want to do item numbers again. I want to act in good and meaningful cinema." So is it the beginning of the end of her political career. "Not at all," said Rakhi and added that she will continue to work for social causes along with films apart from extending her support to BJP and Narendra Modi of whom she is a self-confessed fan. Well, cheers to that we say.
