MUMBAI : Miss world 2000 and the famous actor of the Hindi film industry Priyanka Chopra get married to the famous singer Nick Jonas. Priyanka and Nick tied the knot in 2018. The couple welcomed their daughter Malti Marie Chopra Jonas in 2022. Recently opened up about the cultural and tradition difference between them and how their six years of marriage has worked out so smoothly. Priyanka clarifies that they both had come from a large family with different upbringing so in order to balance their marriage they need to learn and unlearn few things.
During a recent podcast Priyanka spoke about how they both love each other’s home countries as well as their culture. She said ‘He loved everything about India, and I grew up in the States, it was literally my second home. So we embraced each other’s cultures in a big way. But it was the cultural things that were different.’
Priyanka then spoke about how her own family would ‘speak over each other’s sentences’ but this wasn’t the case with Jonas' family. She further said that such things ‘were really hard for me to learn’.Before you finish your sentence, I know what you are saying so I am just going to tell you. That’s just how we are culturally. We are just like, ‘let’s just go!’. We are loud and everyone speaks over each other. So for Nick, he had to learn to cut people off, he had to learn to speak over everyone. He is like, ‘aye, I am saying this!’. I had to learn how to wait, let someone finish their sentence. I’m like, ‘I know what you are saying but I’ll wait for you to finish.’
Priyanka said that this was a big shift for her even though she had spent a lot of time in the US during her teen age.Further she said that her husband Nick, who had never spent much time in India before marrying Priyanka, after marrying her now visited India multiple times. Also he was recently in the country for multiple weeks as they celebrated the festival of Holi together with their entire family.
