MUMBAI: Telugu Lyricist Kandikonda left for his heavenly abode on Sunday evening, battling throat cancer for the past two years. Kandikonda was 48 years old.
The sad news was announced by Telugu Cine writers association president Dr.Paruchuri Gopalakrishna. He was facing financial problems and had also asked for help. Though a few from the industry extended help he couldn’t recover fully and breathed his last.

Several singers and lyricists have taken to social media to condoled the departed soul. Heartfelt tributes have been pouring in for Kandikonda from his fans, celebrities, and eminent political leaders on social media. While offering her condolences, singer Smitha tweeted, “With a heavy heart, i would like to inform the twitter and industry family that Lyricist Kandikonda garu is no more. Wishing for God to give his family strength to deal with the loss. OmShanti."
Lakshmi Manchu paid her tribute writing, "May his soul rest in eternal peace. Strength to the family. I’m shanti." Popular singer Mangli wrote, "If you utter the letters you have written ... this world has supported me Anna. How many great songs have you written since Relare .. Even if you are physically away from us, you will always remain in the form of your song, Anna. Stay 'gone' from our heart Not filled with water .. RIP.”
He had started his writing career with the 2001 superhit film ‘Itlu Sravani Subramanyam’. He had written over 100 songs for AR Rahman, Yuvan Shankar Raja, D.Imman, Harris Jayaraj, Mani Sharma, Sandeep Chowta, and several other popular musicians.
