Salman Khan reveals his dad Salim Khan was disturbed after he split from Javed Akhtar

MUMBAI: Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar, affectionately referred to as Salim-Javed, were once a legendary screenwriting team. They collaborated on screenplays for several of Bollywood's biggest hit movies during their time there, including Don, Deewar, Zanjeer, Sholay, and many more. Regretfully, Salim and Javed decided to call it quits after over a decade of success; the cause of their divorce is still unknown.

The 11-year journey of Salim and Javed is captured in the docuseries Angry Young Men on Amazon Prime, which has finally disclosed the cause for their breakup. Salim Khan emphasized that success went into their minds, while Javed Akhtar blamed their increasing separation.

Popular lyricist, screenwriter, and poet Javed Akhtar remembered the moment when their careers as a duo began to falter in one of the episodes. He emphasized that Salim and Javed made a mistake and that they did not understand the significance of goodwill.

Javed said, “Salim-Javed did not realize the value of goodwill, it was a mistake we made. We had given two super-duper hit films Don and Trishul, both were golden jubilee films, but there was no line of producers standing outside our doors.”

Salim Khan added, “Success has destroyed more people than failures. Success can go to your head and you can start making wrong decisions. You get an attitude, so you have to control that and see it doesn’t happen to you.”

Javed said, “We used to be together for 18 hours in a day, but slowly we started having our different circles, but the major reason behind our split was that the spring of our career was drying up. The fatigue was showing in our work too.”

Salman said, “I remember when the partnership broke up. Dad came home and he was disturbed. I was sitting at the dining table in the hall and he told me that they were breaking the partnership. When we asked why, he said, Javed sahab must have had his reasons, it’s not like he didn’t like my walk or the track pants I wore that he decided to do this.”
