Not knowing how to drive a vehicle can come very handy for actors to give a realistic performance.
Noted comedian of today’s times and director of an upcoming film Pranam Walekum, Sanjai Mishra, who plays Puttan Pal in a forthcoming film Saare Jahaan Se Mehenga, has preferred to use his inability (driving a vehicle) to his advantage.
It so happened that the actor who bagged the best actor in a comic role award for Phas Gaye Re Obama in 2011 was required to enact a scene of drunk driving on a motorcycle. While director Anshul Sharma was briefing Sanjai about the role, he kept nodding his head. And once the camera set rolling, the actor gave a perfect shot and it was okayed in first take itself.
“But the way he was driving with so much hesitation, with the vehicle wavering badly with sudden jerks, his look of utter concentration on the road ahead was indeed frightening though it was a perfect shot,” said a crew member.
“He looked completely drunk and out of control and we assumed that he might have downed a few pegs to make it look authentic. But once we reached him, he told us that he did not know how to drive a motorcycle, hence he resorted to such clumsy driving,” he added.
Saare Jahaan Se Mehenga is being made by Revel Films who had earlier made Phas Gaye Re Obama. Besides Sanjai the film also features Ranjan Chhabra, Disha, Vishwa Mohan Badola, Zakir Hussain, Sitaram Panchal, Paritosh Sand and Pramod Pathak.
The film being produced by Ashok Pandey is being directed by Anshul Sharma.
