MUMBAI: After a battle with prostate cancer, comic-actor Hiram Kasten, who had appearances on sitcoms including Seinfeld, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and Saved By the Bell, passed away at the age of 71. On his Facebook profile, Kasten's obituary was published on Sunday afternoon. It stated that he passed away in his wife Diana Kisiel Kastenbaum's arms "just hours after their 38th wedding anniversary."

According to the obituary, Kasten fought several illnesses over the last seven years, including Crohn's disease and prostate cancer. He passed away at his Batavia, New York, home.
According to the obituary, Seinfeld "passed Hiram on his first audition and he became a regular," and the two "upended a friendship that has lasted for 45 years."
According to the obit, he was also friends with well-known people including Michael Richards, Paul Reiser, Larry Miller, and Mark Schiff.
According to Kasten's family, a memorial service in Los Angeles is scheduled for later this summer. Funeral services will take place at Schwartz Brothers-Jeffers Memorial Chapel in Forest Hills, New York, at a time and date to be disclosed.
