MUMBAI: The Kashmir Files, written and directed by Vivek Agnihotri and produced by Zee Studios, is based on the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits during the Kashmir Insurgency. It stars Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar, Mithun Chakraborty, and Pallavi Joshi. The film is a box-office success. The performance of the cast has been described as compelling, particularly that of Anupam Kher.
But it has been surrounded by a lot of controversies. A few are slamming the film and calling it propaganda.
Vivek Agnihotri, who has been granted 'Y' category security, has now shared an incident when two men entered his office and misbehaved with the manager in his absence. Seven to eight commandos of the CRPF now guard Vivek Agnihotri round the clock across India.
Talking about how he has been receiving threats after the release of the film, Vivek said, "Yes, there have been threats. Recently two boys barged into our office when my wife and I were not there. Only a manager, a middle aged lady was here. They pushed her with the door, she fell, they asked for me and then fled. I never spoke about this incident because I didn’t want such elements to get any publicity. I told them not to bother with the security. But they said they have to."
The security has been given to him because of his increased threat perception after the release of The Kashmir Files.
On March 12, the film’s team, including director Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri, his wife and actress Pallavi Joshi, and the film’s producer Abhishek, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The PM congratulated them and appreciated the film.
