MUMBAI: Ajay Devgn, Tabu, and Shriya Saran starrer Drishyam 2 released yesterday (18th Nov), and the film has taken a bumper opening at the box office. The movie has collected Rs. 15.38 crore on day one, and has got the second highest opening (Bollywood film) of the year after Brahmastra.
TellyChakkar recently interacted with Shriya and spoke to her about Drishyam 2, and a lot more…
Drishyam 2 has got a great opening. How does it feel?
Yes, it has been doing very well. I am wearing green clothes; we have got the green light (laughs). I am feeling great because my mother still has a habit of going and buying the tickets from the theatres. She went to the theatre and she got the tickets for the front two rows. So, she is standing there in the line, and she is calling me and telling me that she took the tickets in the front row because it’s housefull. She is happy about it, and it’s a cute feeling.
It’s a comeback for you as a lead after a gap of four years. How was it to see yourself on the big screen as a lead in Drishyam 2?
I have been answering this question for 20 years. When I used to do Tamil films and come back to Telugu, they used to say it’s a comeback. Then I used to do Malayalam and Kannada films, and do a Tamil film, so again it was a comeback. So, it has been like that. But, this character Nandini has been written so beautifully, and the story is so good. The character has so many layers, it’s like the more you play her, the more you understand her and more you kind of fall in love with her. It is going houseful now, and I hope people keep loving it. I would love to do more interesting and more challenging roles.
Any plans of Drishyam 3?
I don’t know! I don’t know what Drishyam 3 will be and how they will shape it. But, I am just happy that this one happened and people are loving it. The treatment of this one is very different from the original Malayalam film. Abhishek has really put in his flavour and he has really worked hard. Everyone in the film has really worked hard.
