MUMBAI: The very well known actress of the Hindi film industry Sonali Bendre inspired the whole country in 2018, when she gave a tough fight to the deadly condition of cancer and bounced back. The actress was diagnosed with the four stages of metastatic cancer,even the doctors claimed that she has only a 30 percent chance of living. Nevertheless she took the challenge to undergo the attentive treatment in the hospital in New York City. In 2021 the actress declared cancer free. During her treatment she lost her graceful locks of hair. However, Sonali never gets upset from accepting the reality and posted her bald pictures on social media.

In a recent interview, Sonali Bendre speaks about her first reaction when she came to know about her battling with stage four of metastatic cancer. At the very first she went into the trauma and questioned herself why she was out of everyone else. Further Sonali added that little change in the attitude and the thought process helps her for quick recovery. She said:

‘When I received my cancer diagnosis, my first thought was, 'Why me?' I'd wake up thinking it was all a nightmare; I couldn't believe that this could happen to me. That's when I started to change the way I thought. Instead of 'why me?' I started asking, 'Why not me?' I started to feel grateful this wasn't happening to my sister or my son. I realized I had the strength to deal with this, I had the resources to go to the best hospitals, and the support system to help me through this. Starting to ask 'why not me?' helped me start the healing process.’

Earlier in an interview, the actress talked about the time when she went to New York City hospital, the doctors claimed that she had only 30 percent chances of survival. After knowing the ground under her and her husband, Goldie Behl’s feet, the couple decided to stay strong and decided that they will stay  in New York, so that they could stay back and decide on the best course of action ahead.

Fighter Sonali Bendre never feels ashamed to open to the world about her changed looks, scars and baldness, especially after her recovery from cancer. In the same interview, the diva stated that at first she was unable to accept her looks,face being bloated and bald are also used to scare her sometimes. However, she revealed that after some time she starts to accept the reality and learn to embrace her flaws in her words:

‘That was the scary part as the bloated face, the scar and the baldness, and especially when the hair just starts coming, it’s just the most ugly sight on the top of your head. But I did that and I believed that the moment you’re scared of something and you’re feeling that ‘No, how can I do this, I need to go out', then you should do it. You just kill it right there or just crush it then. That was one way of looking at it.’
