After the success of Aashiqui 2, Bhushan Kumar headed T-Series has announced its slate of upcoming films for next year (2014).
Avers Kumar, “Prior to Nautanki Saala and Aashiqui 2, we made one film in two years or so. But with a strong sense of music, good scripts in hand and with a dedicated in-house team, we now plan to make 6-7 mixed budget films a year.”
The production house has a bundle of films of different genres. The slate of films that will get going with Divya Kumar’s Yaariyan is set to release on 31 January. Yaariyan, a youth based film will take one on a journey of his college and adolescent years.
The next on line is Bhootnath 2, the film by which T-Series revives B R Chopra Films that is to release on 11 April. The film, that has Amitabh Bachchan playing the friendly ghost, also stars Boman Irani.
With Vikram Bhatt’s sci-fi thriller Creature 3D starring Bipasha Basu, T-Series enters the genre of sci-fi thrillers. The flick, which releases on 30 May, is set to scare the audience with a creature created using VFX which will be a first-of-its kind in India.
Venturing in genres like youth film, relationships, thriller, T-Series will release Roy on 20 June. The romantic-action-drama starring Ranbir Kapoor also has Arjun Rampal and Jacqueline Fernandez.
Yet another film from the T-Series stable is Oh My God fame Umesh Shukla’s yet untitled film. The film speaks about father-son relationship with Abhishek Bachchan in the lead and Rishi Kapoor as his father. It releases on 11 July and is a social drama with a dash of humour.
Adds Kumar, “We wish to give our audience varied genre films that will be accepted by the masses. Right from family relations to friendships, from sci-fi to action drama we want our audience to enjoy different sort of films. All the movies produced by T-Series are mixed budgets. With movies like Yaariyan and Creature already on the floors, Umesh’s untitled film, Roy and Bhootnath 2 will go on floors soon.”
The production house has also roped in a few directors for their future projects that are in scripting stage. It has also signed in Milan Luthria to direct a big budget film.
