Throughout Jolly LLB, Arshad is seen running away from me: Amrita Rao

Amrita Rao (Ishq Vishk and Masti) is back from the wilderness with Jolly LLB. “In this Subhash Kapoor (<em>Phas Gaya Re Obama</em> fame) film about two lawyers, I play a small-town school teacher Sandhya who is the love interest of Arshad Warsi. She is a non-mushy type of girlfriend, more like a friend showing him the mirror and slapping him if necessary. Throughout the film Arshad is seen running away from me.

Amrita Rao (Ishq Vishk and Masti) is back from the wilderness with Jolly LLB. “In this Subhash Kapoor (Phas Gaya Re Obama fame) film about two lawyers, I play a small-town school teacher Sandhya who is the love interest of Arshad Warsi. She is a non-mushy type of girlfriend, more like a friend showing him the mirror and slapping him if necessary. Throughout the film Arshad is seen running away from me. In fact, his chemistry with Boman is greater than with me. That is okay, for let’s face it, Jolly LLB is not a romantic film but a satire on the country’s legal system which at times is really funny as the film will show.” She continues, “The language used is also quite blunt, it is not aap but ‘tu’ ‘tera’ types, so unlike me. I had tough time while shooting as many a time I would forget to say ‘tu’ after which we had to reshoot. Since Subhash wanted to establish this hard equation between Arshad and my character, we added a dialogue ‘baap ka maal hai’ which has become more popular since the film’s release.” As for Amrita, she really loved Boman’s work as a smart successful city lawyer. “When you watch the film you forget that he is Boman. The scenes between Arshad and him in the climax are too good,” Amrita adds. Ask her where she was since the last three years during which she has had only one release in I Love U...Mr. Kalakaar!, this cute girl (Vivaah) next door answers, “I never go running after roles. The lean period which you mentioned happened because I was signed for The Legend of Kunal (directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi) starring Amitabh Bachchan, Tabu and Arjun Rampal. Then there was a Tips film with Niel Nitin Mukesh directed by Ken Ghosh. Both these films never saw the light of day due to budget constraints.” “Meanwhile I could not do Well Done Abba and Aaj Dekha Zara as well for I had given time to the above projects. In such cases, you do get ruffled and people start questioning as to what is happening? But then that is time when family and close friends come to your rescue as in my case and keep you balanced,” the actress observes. 2013 seems to be a busy year for this girl. She has Satyagraha, Singh Saheb The Great and Hungame Pe Hungama coming after Jolly LLB.
