MUMBAI :  One of the best films of 2022 is without a doubt, SS Rajamouli’s ‘RRR’. The Telugu epic action-drama film has been grabbing everyone’s attention these days as it has been receiving international attention and accolades, making India proud. It recently won an award at the Golden Globes for Best Original Song for ‘Naatu Naatu’, and much recently, it won two awards at the 28th Critics Choice Award- Best Song for ‘Naatu Naatu’ and Best Foreign Language Film.

Now as the nominations for the 95th Academy Awards are going to be announced very soon, on 24th January, it is being said that RRR is most likely being considered for a variety of categories, including Best Original Song and more. Along with this, now a well-known American magazine has stated that one of the lead actors of the film, Jr NTR is one of the names at the front that are being considered for the Best Actor Category.

Jr NTR plays the character of historical freedom fighter, Komaram Bheem. RRR has been grabbing audiences in the West as well. Now as per the magazine, their prediction is that Jr NTR’s performance in the film must have not gone unrecognised by the Academy, and it is possible that he might receive a nomination in the Best Actor category.

The article stated, “Here are 10 performances from deserving folks we hope are remembered in this year's Oscar race.” It went on to rank Jr NTR at the top of the list, which included the names of actors like Tom Cruise, Paul Dano, Mia Goth, Paul Mescal, and Zoe Kravitz. Earlier, even Variety had mentioned Jr NTR among their unranked predictions for the Oscars.

Talking about Jr NTR's performance, writer Brian Truitt wrote, “Academy, is it possible to go halfsies on a best actor nod? Because this action-packed musical adventure's two Indian mega-stars are what makes ‘RRR’ such an audience-friendly powerhouse: Ram Charan’s British army soldier and Rao’s loyal warrior become friends, butt heads as foes and then come back together as a fighting force, with an all-time bromance and an amazing dance-off along the way. If we have to pick though, the charismatic Rao has the edge for leading an army of wild animals and juggling a motorcycle with ease.”

Team RRR has been busy promoting their film in Hollywood and are eyeing nominations in multiple categories at the 2023 Oscars.
