Varun Dhawan replaces Salman in KJo's Shuddhi

Ever since Karan Johar announced Shuddhi, the struggle for the lead couples has been keeping the filmmaker on his toes.

Firstly Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor was finalised for the project, but the duo bowed out of the film owing to prior commitment.

Then KJo decided to get love birds Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone on board. But the alleged couple chose Bajirao Mastani over Shuddhi leaving Karan in a soup once again.

His ambitious project finally saw hope, when Salman Khan signed on the dotted lines, but the wait for female lead continued.

But with the uncertainty around Salman’s two pending court cases, the ‘Bhai’ has opted out of the project. And Karan has now finally got his prodigy Varun Dhawan on board. Also the Student of The Year couple will once again be highlighted with Alia Bhatt signed opposite him.

KJo made the formal announcement on Twitter:

And unlike popular belief, this news definitely hasn’t brought any bad blood between Salman, Karan and Varun as the superstar also took to social networking to congratulate the young gun.
