MUMBAI: The Bengali soap, Jiyonkathi, which airs on SUN Bangla, has a lot of drama in store for the viewers. With Mishmee Das’ entry, the tale will see a lot of twists and turns in the episodes ahead.
For the uninitiated, Jiyonkathi, ideated and written by Leena Gangopadhyay, is a story of love, struggle and human emotions. Set in today’s time, Jiyonkathi revolves around the love-hate relationship between two souls - Rishi and Jahnabi. Rishi is a District Magistrate. Work brings him to a small town named Sagardighi where Jahnabi stays with her mother. Where Rishi is rude and harsh towards his life, brilliant student Jahnabi is vivid, courageous and outspoken. As per the current storyline, Rishi is suddenly hit by Roshni, Rishi’s ex-girlfriend who ditched him for an NRI guy. But after being betrayed by the NRI guy, Roshni wants to make a comeback in Rishi’s life. So Roshni comes to pay a visit to Rishi’s abode at Sagardighi for reconciliation.
Speaking about the character Roshni, Mishmee said, “It’s not every day that you get to play a realistically flawed character and that’s the best part about Leena aunty’s writing. No character is black or white, they’re all grey. Roshni has flaws, she’s made mistakes and she realizes them and she’s willing to do anything to make it alright. I think that’s everybody in today’s world.”
