Taking center stage as Karamveer Singh aka Pooja is Ayushmann Khurrana whose female voice impersonation begets attention from others. Along with him this perfect rom-com, features Nushrat Bharucha, Manjot Singh, Abhishek Banerjee and Vijay Raaz in crucial roles. While the ensemble star cast includes some of the best names in the industry, the movie sees the on-screen Vickky Donor’s powerful duo Ayushmann and Annu Kapoor reunite as father-son in this laugh riot after a 7-year break. Bringing this one of a kind movie to your television screens, Zee Cinema will air the World Television Premiere of Dream Girl on Saturday 21 st December at 9pm.
Setting the tone of the movie right is Amit Gupta’s Radhe Radhe, a peppy song that depicts the Radha-Krishna love story. Adding a flavor of masti and mazaa is the second track Dil Ka Telephone
by Jonita Gandhi and Nakash Aziz. Both these tracks were an instant hit. On the characterization front, Ayushmann fluidly switches between his two identities of Pooja and Karam and displays an
array of expressions throughout the film.
Elaborating on the prep he underwent in order to portray Pooja, Ayushmann Khurrana said, “I had to deliver 25 percent of my dialogues in a woman's voice. Since I come from a radio background, it’s easier for me to modulate my voice. I have spent years behind the mic, mimicking different people. Raaj had given me the references of a few men, who prank people by speaking in a woman’s voice.
I studied those videos extensively. The biggest challenge was to crack the right note as I not only had to sound like a woman but also had to add that touch of Haryanvi and Hindi in the local accent.
As a guy, I have a natural deep baritone voice so that makes it tougher to sound convincing as a woman. So, transitioning between voices was challenging, but it wasn’t one bit exhausting. I am
naturally drawn to different characters, so this was an adventure.”
The movie revolves around a fun, talented and unemployed, Karam who is desperately looking out for a job so that he can repay his father’s debt. One day, he comes across a flyer promising
employment, but it turns out to be a job at a ‘friendship call-centre’, which pairs lonely men with attractive female voices. Trying to impress the employer, he answers the phone, improvises a
coquettish character named Pooja due to which he gets the job. Soon, Pooja’s voice begins attracting a host of admirers like a cop (Vijay Raaz), an ardent teenager (Raj Bhansali) and a
bramhachari (Abhishek Banerjee) and becomes their dream girl. On the other hand, Karam meets and falls in love with Mahi Rajput (Nushrat Bharucha) who is unaware about Karam’s shenanigans
as Pooja.
Will Mahi find out about Karam’s job? Will the other characters get to know the real Pooja aka their dream girl? Watch the World Television Premiere of Dream Girl on Saturday, 21 st December at 9pm only on Zee Cinema
